Spooky season has officially come to a close, but quite frankly, we're not ready to let it go just yet. October is over and we're doing a full postmortem in the last 31 days. That means the movie we watched, the shows we binged, the games we played, the books we read, and the questionable late-night purchases we're still trying to justify, although there is no justification. We're also looking ahead to what November has in store for us, be it new releases, streaming drops, or the horror we still haven't gotten around to. This week we're recapping our 2026 spooky season. Greetings and salutations, and welcome to Hacker Slash. If you're joining us again, welcome back. My name is Chris, I'm your friendly neighborhood slasher enthusiast. This week I'm joined by the classic horror connoisseur Sean.
SeanWhatever happened to trick-or-treating.
KrisAnd the paranormal paramour, Binx. It's Halloween. Everyone's entitled to one good scare. Before we dive into the full recap of everything that we were up to, I want to give a special shout out to a great number of folks who were new to our Patreon family over the last month. And really just taking some time to give you a shout-out to Scott, Beth, Gavin, Amy, Carrie, Matthew, Hank. I do love the name Hank. I haven't met enough Hanks in my life. Alex, Cam, Charles, Cornate, giving screen names, giving aim, instant messenger, Jackson, Audrey, and Jacob.
BinxThat is quite the ensemble. That's like a whole football team. I don't know, sports. Some might say the ensemble is ensembling. Exactly. Exactly. Who would be the captain? I'm gonna vote Hank.
SeanSounds like a good QB name, you know.
KrisRight? I think so. I'm going Alex with an eye, because Alex with an eye gives star power.
BinxThat's a good one. Yeah.
KrisWell, welcome aboard, folks. We are so stoked to have you, and you're in for a lot of great treats along the way. For now, here we are, November 3rd. October is over. What were we all up to this month?
BinxGoodness.
SeanI felt like it just went by so fast.
KrisToo fast. Honestly, it feels like a scam. Feels like we didn't even get in October this year.
SeanYou had time off this October too. I feel like I just fucking worked the entire month.
KrisDitchy! I did have time off, but I also spent a lot of that time working.
BinxExactly. I was like, ooh, sore subject. Crazy. I mean, for me, I spent half of it sick. If I had to describe October in three words, it would be sick and sickening because half of it I was very sick talking emergency room, and the other half was the craziest, weirdest things that have happened to me. I mean, good things, positive things, but just the most uncanny, maybe? I don't know. It's kind of a little bit strange to think about. To start, I was sick for half October, and then quite literally, quite literally on the week of Halloween, I was impacted by a mass layoff. So if you've been a listener here, you may remember that last year I was laid off as well. So this is the second time that this has happened to me. Maybe I need to get out of software. Maybe that's the bit. Maybe no more uh startup life, but it's real hard once you get in. Can't get out, folks. So if you know my struggle, you know it quite sucks. Yeah, so that's the like the negative side. I mean, we're gonna we're on the up, everything's gonna be fine, we're gonna be Gucci, but the other like bizarre things that have happened, I mean, gosh, we'll we'll talk more in depth. But I I have made some purchases, I have seen some films. I had some people follow me on Instagram that are like, what the fuck's happening to me? It's very strange. All of it's very strange.
SeanYeah, it sounds exciting.
BinxYeah. I'll tell I'll take unemployment in in exchange for all the other positive, cool things.
SeanI'll I guess so. You gotta stick with the positive stuff. I feel like I just completely just worked. That's all I did this entire October. Usually I'll take a lot of time off in October. I did not have that ability to do so this October, so it feels like the whole month just went by like super, super quickly. Um yeah. I mean, I got to spend Halloween at home with family and friends, and that was good. But outside of that, it just felt like work home, work home. I don't even know how I got the house decorated, to be honest with you.
BinxThat was gonna be my next question. Was if you actually decorated.
SeanOh, yeah, that's that's a given. It's gonna happen, but I don't know how it happened. No, I did uh we did a whole like graveyard theme this year outside. I got some really good like flood lighting going on with some purple hues. It looked really good.
KrisYeah.
SeanIt did, yes, I know the floods, the real horse.
BinxSean, oh my god, yeah. I thought of you yesterday when I saw it on the news. I turned to my friend and I was like, oh my god, my friend Sean lives right there.
SeanOh shit.
BinxHe's swimming home from work.
SeanQuite literally, I was driving home last night at like 5:30, 6 o'clock. I talked to Chris on the way home, actually. Everything was good on the drive home. And then as soon as I hung up with Chris and was getting off my exit, I live in a residential community that's like five roundabouts deep into this neighborhood. And the first roundabout was completely blocked off by police. There was like multiple cars that were like underwater, so I had to like find an alternate route through the neighborhoods uh that were also pretty flooded. I'm almost certain because I was at some point up to my hood and water on my car. I'm pretty sure the only way that I got home was because I had an electric car and I had no exhaust pipe, so there was no way to flood my engine.
KrisElectric and water, though, doesn't sound great together. Right.
SeanI know. I thought about that too, but here's my bit.
KrisI think instead of us living in this space where we're thinking about flying cars, I think we just gotta go sub aquatic. You know what I mean? I think be submarines at this point. Yeah. Also, we've been warned about this living in Florida for a long time that it would be underwater eventually. And here we are, the day of reckoning.
SeanUh well, you know, if they keep building on the wetlands, there's no way to run off the water, you know, like to soak up the water. So it's the repercussions of our own doing here.
KrisNot much dry land to be found.
SeanIt's a little dicey over here. But luckily we're good. Our house is good, no flooding, although our neighborhood, we were like one of the only houses that has a section of street that didn't flood. Like if you go three houses down, there's like water up to people's like garage doors.
KrisWow. I love how even in the face of all this, you're still really giving positive vibes. You're really out here like, darling, it's better, downwards, wetter, take it from me.
SeanYeah, I mean, you gotta have a good time. There was literally people canoeing, you know, down the streets out here, man. There was people literally canoeing.
KrisI think for all the time you couldn't take off in October, I think this is Mother's Nature way of saying stay your ass home.
SeanIt kind of was. And here's the thing that's kind of what happened this Halloween because you know, it did start to technically storm up here on Halloween. So, you know, normally we would go, especially on a Saturday. Halloween was on a Saturday this year. And Chris, you know, last year we went up, we went down to Fort Pierce and did that whole pub crawl. I'm sure that you know that would have been the plan this year, but the weather just did not permit. Like, I'm not walking pub crawling outside in the rain, so that didn't happen. We didn't do any, we didn't dress up. It was very depressing, to be honest with you. Half the trick-or-treaters because of the rain. I had like 20 pounds of candy I brought to work the next day. Crazy.
KrisYeah, this is the first time in my life I've ever had Halloween candy inside my home. This year is the first time I've had Halloween where like my nephew is living here with me. And let me tell you, it did restore for as depressing as it was to not like fully get to into the festive spirit of things, it did restore a little bit of the whimsy. For example, carved a jack-o'-lantern, and it was the first time I've carved a jack-o-lantern since moving back to Florida. Oh, wait, I I think I saw. Was it Michael? Yeah, we did a we got a stencil book from Spirit Halloween, and it was a whole Halloween two stencil book, and we got kind of like a really sus-looking pumpkin, so we didn't want to go with one of the designs we really wanted to go for. But it was a Halloween two silhouette. Also, what a what a great time this has been. He dressed up as Lori Strode, and we spent so much time searching Amazon for the right shoes, the right shirt, and I think we fucking nailed it, quite frankly. The only thing missing was a blonde wig.
SeanLove it.
BinxDo we have like a full photo shoot that you can provide?
SeanYeah, I think I only you only shared like one scene that I saw. Yeah.
KrisYeah, I got you. I'm gonna send some photos right now.
BinxI'm so glad one of us dressed up. I was so frantic, I threw on a blonde wig and I basically photoshopped myself as Laurel Palmer in Twin Peaks firewalk with me. If anyone actually saw me in that blonde wig, everyone was like, Who the hell are you? And I'm like, buddy, whatever you think in your mind is what I am. Whatever blonde person you can think of in a black dress.
SeanWhat a failure. It happens. It happens.
BinxListen, it was rough. It was rough. It just wasn't it wasn't the Halloween this year. Sadly, because it was on a Saturday, but geez, that rain really odd.
SeanI know the weather just kind of ruined it all.
KrisWell, it was great. Dragging this kid to the theater with my sister and my other nephew, and it was their first time ever seeing the original Halloween in theaters.
SeanOh wow, that's awesome.
KrisBanks, it was a bit of redemption because you know where we went-the fucking Regal and Sawgrass, which is the same place where we saw in a violent nature.
BinxThank God. What a much better experience. I do want to say the picture of them on the couch with the knife, incredible. Incredible. Hang that in the loop.
KrisYeah, he had a he had a really great time. Fortunately, all I had to really do was finance this project and rip the shirt and stain it in blood. And he has a friend at school who was able to do some liquid latex to make the wound on the arm. I think it looks better than the wound from the movie.
SeanYeah, that's awesome. Came out great.
KrisThe talent. Hell yeah. Um but speaking of financing things, being because I know you made some purchases.
BinxListen, guys. Okay, I just want to clarify what I purchased happened before I was announced unemployed. I may or may not have spent a good amount of money, leave comments on guesses of how much I spent on the bratz and the craft collab. Okay. It was necessary. All right. You might be thinking, why in the fuck did you spend money and big money on brats dolls, Bianca? Well, you know, the logic and the math, in particular the girl math, told me I mean, brats are like back, you know? And the craft, it had to be done. It had to be done. So I got all four of them. I have the whole, the whole coven, all four corners are accounted for, and I have no regrets.
SeanThey did look cool. I saw your post. They did look cool.
BinxThey're beautiful. Do they come in a set or do you have to buy them individually? Okay. I'm gonna show you. So Nancy comes by herself because of course the savages. And then Bonnie Rochelle and Sarah come in a set. However, let's just put it this way Nancy sold out in seconds. Let me paint you a tale. All right. I went to my friend Jenna's wedding in Wisconsin. It was the day of the release. I was sweating. I was so afraid that the flight was going to delay and I was going to miss my opportunity to order these. Luckily, I arrived and landed and got out of that plane with 15 minutes to spare. I ran to a Starbucks like queue in the Chicago airport, which was like where I had to land for, you know, the wedding. And in the middle of the hallway on my phone, just refreshing, refreshing, refreshing. And I copped it in seconds. But it Nancy specifically sold out instantly. But I have it here. One second.
SeanThat's wild.
BinxIt's quite large, this the situation here. It comes with posters, which is so obnoxious. And where am I going to put that?
SeanWell, you got to put those up somewhere.
BinxSomewhere. I'm going to find up a space. And then this is how big the three girls are. For listeners, just so you have an understanding, this is practically the size of half of my body. It's quite large and quite obnoxious. Where am I going to put this? I have no idea. I also fear that I may have to take them out of the box so that I can actually put them somewhere in my house. They're really large boxes, but they're quite gorgeous. And Nancy is also just as divine. But that was a stupid amount of money. Wow. I'm proud of you, actually.
KrisGreat job.
BinxI still have my original brats from when I was a little girl. I used to have them still in boxes. Funny enough, last time I was unemployed, I panicked and I sold my boxed brats for like $100 a pop. So and then here I am buying more brats and unemployed again. So look at that.
KrisLook at that. Being also spent money on things that were of the toy nature. I want to paint you a tale of a time that I went to the mall and the goal was to get brown shoes for my nephew's costume for Lori Strode. Did we find a single pair of brown shoes in that mall? Absolutely the fuck not. It's Pembroke Lakes Mall. It's dead as fuck. What does exist there though is Popmart. And Popmart fan proprietors of the Laboo Boos. I don't fuck around with Laboo Boo though. But what I did see were little good guy doll boxes. And they have blind boxes of Chucky figures. So we bought three of them. Oh my god. And we have Chucky and Andy. We have Stroller Chucky. And then we have Graveyard Chucky. They're very cute, admittedly. And Chucky's actually my nephew's favorite slasher, his favorite horror icon. So I thought I would just get a few and then like give him most of them, and I'll just like keep one for myself, etc. I went back out to Target. We're doing some shopping. And what do we see in the collector's corner? But one full box of the blind boxes.
SeanNice.
KrisThere's nine of them in here.
SeanThat's cool.
KrisYeah. But I figured I'm gonna open this up with my nephew. The original child's play anniversary is coming up in the next couple days. So we're gonna make a video actually unboxing everything. I think we probably sunk similar cost things between blind boxes and bratstalls.
BinxYeah, not gonna lie to you. I was kind of doing the math in there, and yep, sounds about right. Yikes sounds about right.
SeanI probably didn't spend as much as you all, but I did also buy something this spooky season. I got this really cool universal monsters wall clock.
KrisHoly shit, where did you find that? Oh my god.
SeanI think this was the Bradford Exchange or whatever.
KrisThat is amazing. That looks like something you would buy from the seat back of an airplane.
SeanIt's like in one of those magazines. I think that's where the Bradford Exchange started, one of those magazines that you like check a box and send in the mail. But it's super cool, and I'm super excited to find a spot for this clock.
KrisI love that.
BinxThe Dracula is so amazing.
KrisI think the reality is life is hard, the economy fucking sucks, and why not invest in a little bit of joy here and there? You know, that's what I'm saying.
SeanYou gotta just live it up, you know? You only get one life.
KrisThat's true, that's true. You know what else though did bring some joy was all the shit we watched this October. Oh, yes. Remember how I said I had a lot of time off, but then I spent a lot of that time off working. So I was going really strong with my 31 days, and we actually published a tracker for WHOS 13, and we did a whole thing. It was great. I was going so strong up until the very last week. My October for sure fell apart at that time. I then just reverted back to okay, I'm just watching all the Halloween movies.
SeanYeah, that's true. It it was it was definitely rough to try to get through all of the movies that you intend to get through this month. I definitely missed some, but you do what you can, you know, at the end of the day, you do what you can as long as you hit the ones that are most important.
KrisAnd I think actually, between watching all the episodes of Carrie and watching all the episodes of Crystal Lake, I more than made up for the days that I missed watching movies.
SeanYeah. We did binge two series. That is a feat, you know? That is a feat. So I feel pretty good about it.
BinxYeah, you guys should. I mean, two full-blown shows, and they were quite the ride. We were also chatting about them as well. First of all, wanna say that tracker, because let's let's give a round of applause to that tracker. I remember when you showed me that, Chris. I thought I was gonna collapse. I thought that was the coolest fucking thing you've probably ever made ever, ever, ever. That was so fun. No, like guys, next year, I'm October. I don't care. If I'm literally sick with the plague, I'm sticking to the 31 days and I'm watching it all. I that tracker was super helpful, but I mean, most of the movies I ended up falling asleep because I was basically like tranquilized. So, you know, I I also missed a lot, but I did end up watching 33 movies. 23 being horror. I know that I mean that's not so bad. I I feel like that sounds like a lot, but I mean, if you looked at my stats in the past, it it's almost like concerning how many movies I watch sometimes in a month. So I 33, we're gonna take it. 23 being horror. I did watch a lot of the you know, the the mainstays, very important. I um did watch Crystal Lake and Carrie, of course, those were fun. And I actually on Halloween, the one thing that I did on Halloween, which is kind of random but pretty cool, I guess, was I saw an early screening of River that comes out in January. And um, yeah, that was fun. It was quite interesting for sure. Can't wait, you know, if we decide to explore it. I think people are gonna have some some thoughts. I was next to two older ladies. I mean, the whole early screening was an older crowd because that's usually the demographic for Miami Film Festival. And I was next to these two ladies that were potentially three cups deep in one and terrified. The commentary from them alone felt like a watch-along. So it was quite something. So lots of movies were watched and TV, but I don't know. I still had some that I really wanted to see. Listen, if there's one big takeaway, let it be that I finally watched Halloween Resurrection, as we know. I think if there had to be one thing to highlight, it has to be that one. I finally did it. I finally get the Buster rhymes.
SeanWhich is awesome. And I'm, you know, super thrilled that you enjoyed it too. That's that's also really awesome.
KrisI did. I did. What a magical time. I know that our community was pretty stoked about that one.
SeanYeah, for sure. You know, everyone knows I have like a whole Halloween movie list as well that I try to get through every year. I definitely did not get through that list. I did watch like all of the staples that I felt like I needed to get to. I I did get, you know, get through the Halloween obviously franchise and did all that stuff like we do every year, but um, but I did end up watching some like different ones that I hadn't watched in a long time this year. Um, not necessarily Halloween themed movies per se, but just stuff that I hadn't seen in a while for whatever reason. I so I had my my brother-in-law staying with us for like a little over a week uh towards the end of the month, ended up being able to stay through Halloween. So we were having just a good time hanging out and watching movies and stuff, and um, and we ended up so we ended up throwing Insidious Three on. And I hadn't seen that one in a long time, and I was actually kind of like, oh, I kind of I kind of actually dig this one. This one was kind of it was kind of spooky, you know, it was kind of kind of a cool vibe. I hadn't seen it in a long, long time. You know, we got into it and then we were like, you know, let's rent out of the further. And then we watched Insidious Out of the Further, which I feel like for three quarters of the movie started out super strong and then fell apart at the end.
KrisSwan dive. I guess we got to do an episode on it because I feel the opposite.
BinxUh oh. And I actually and I actually watched it because I I trusted the listeners. They said the song wasn't in it, and they were right. Boy oh boy, I was still petrified, and then also very much not. It was quite it was an interesting watch.
SeanYeah.
BinxAn interesting watch, okay.
SeanWe will have to do an episode on it for sure. I don't know where we are in the insidious franchise, though. I don't know if we can just skip the out of the further. So we got some to do.
BinxDefinitely. Ooh, interesting. Okay. Were there any like new releases that you like threw into the mix?
SeanThe first week of the month I got really sucked into like the Halloween like baking wars, you know. For some reason, I just got like really I just threw it on one day and I was like, oh my gosh, I'm hooked. I gotta watch what they're gonna do with these cakes, you know.
BinxI get it, I get it. Man, how fun. I feel like that's one thing that I wish I had done this October was do a little more pumpkin. And I guess November's good for that too, of course, but it's a little different. Like I didn't do anything actually like jack-o'-lantern shaped. I had bought a whole baking pan. I had done the whole bit and like nothing. Nothing was baked, nothing was made.
KrisOkay. Well, hear me out. Because one of the things I did do was I went to Barnes and Noble and I bought an Elvira cookbook. So maybe we gotta skim through their banks and try to make something. That's super cool. Yeah, I'm I'm very intrigued. We saw some like dyed black chicken wings, and I practiced just making chicken wings for the first time in a very long time. Uh, and they came out pretty good, so I think we're gonna do that soon.
SeanNice, nice. Creepy, creepy. What do you how are you dyeing them black? Are you either you're like using food dye or are you I've to be clear, I have not done it yet.
KrisI just like regularly making the chicken wings.
SeanSquid ink wings, you know? Could be good.
KrisThis isn't Sean's kitchen. The book is probably gonna tell me to use some fucking food dye, and Sean's gonna be like, no, you gotta do it the natural way.
BinxOf course. That's like hard mode.
KrisNo need for that. To be clear, Sean's way is gonna give you a longer life expectancy.
BinxAlso, uh, yeah, fair enough. That's true. How about for October? Did you guys like consume anything else that isn't movies or TV? Like games, books, that kind of thing?
SeanListen, here's the thing with books. I'm constantly buying books and never reading them. You know what I mean? Like I have I keep buying horror novels, I keep buying more Stephen King stuff, I keep buying all this stuff, and then it just sits on the shelf because I just never find the time to read. I need to start prioritizing reading. I really just got to step back and be like, I'm gonna dedicate this hour to reading.
BinxYes, listen, you're talking to me here. I I completely get it. I bought like five books, haven't even cracked them open. I saw that Jane Schoenburn has a new book that came out that everyone's raving about. I'm probably gonna buy it. Who knows when I'll get to it? But it needs to be bought. I can't help it.
KrisSpeaking of books from the A24 shop, the Crystal Lake novel.
SeanLove it.
KrisOh wow, yeah. Oh my god, wait, it's a thick girl. That Crystal Lake show was such a refreshing way to just reframe the absurdity of that entire franchise and fix so much stuff, and I can't wait for us to review it. We're gonna have an episode reviewing it on November 13th, Friday the 13th. But I am just absolutely over the moon enamored with that show, and I can't wait to see even what else I can dig up here in the novel.
BinxI didn't even realize that they had done the novelization. They move quick with that stuff, but it's go buy the book, 20 bucks.
KrisWow. Okay. It's probably like one leg of a brat's doll and one entire Chucky Bine Bond's big.
BinxOh yeah. Oh, for sure. Literally a hair strand, probably. Yeah, no big deal. It's fine.
KrisBeyond the books, and Sean, I know you got to try this as well. I spent so much time playing Halloween the game. It's a little unhealthy.
SeanNice.
BinxI wish that I was better at it. And I also need a better computer chair. The one that I'm currently sitting on sucks. So I just like I don't feel like it. I did get it on PS5 though. So we're turning the tides and I'm ready to get back into it.
KrisLet me tell you how down bad I am for this game. I bought a PlayStation portal just so I can play this game in bed. Oh my god, you did. That's right.
SeanThat's great.
KrisAnd Sean, it supports cloud streaming. So if you don't want to get a PS5 yet, get a PlayStation portal, access any PlayStation games that are streamable.
SeanIt's tempting. It's tempting. Yeah, that was uh one of the perks of having my brother-in-law down here is that he no matter where he goes, brings his Xbox with him all the time. Like, so we were just, you know, we just casually just brought it up. I had I forgot what we were doing that night, but he was like uh looking for a game to play or whatever, and I had just casually mentioned Halloween because it was Halloween, and he's like, Oh yeah, let's do it. So we downloaded it right away and played it like the entire night. We were just like, and it's so it's just so cool because like we put we started off just playing story mode, which is like it's just like living the movie, like you're literally going to the same places doing the same things. I fucking strangled a dog the same fucking way, you know? It's crazy. I strangled that dog.
BinxThe story mode for my for the PS5 that I was playing it on kept freaking freezing, so I was so frustrated.
SeanThat sucks. It's so fun. I was pinning people to the fucking walls, it was so good. Stalking people, oh, cutting the power. Oh, yeah.
BinxOh, cutting the power is fun. So cutting the power is fun. Yeah, I know I'm gonna get into it. I'm gonna get into it, but I spent all of October basically beating Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. So I've been resident eviling. I did start Silent Hill Town Fall, gave myself a bit of a heart attack there because most of it is stealth, which means anxiety is through the roof. But that is my goal is to beat Townfall. But two and four, I was Leon Kennedy it up all October. But I probably should have done other things that are productive, like maybe rested and gotten better and healthier faster, but you know, whatever. To each their own.
KrisI mean, listen, I think a lot of people would argue that playing video games is relaxing and restful. Maybe not maybe not resident evil, but yeah, no.
BinxI mean, yeah, the the stress was through the roof. The stress was through the roof. I will say, on a happier note, and not less stressful by a landslide, is that music-wise, dead man's bones. Are you guys familiar?
SeanYes. I feel like not that many people are familiar. Maybe. I don't know, because I don't really know anybody that mentions them other than you.
BinxYeah, my whole personality in high school was that goddamn album. So I was literally in tears. What literally in tears. I could literally get emotional thinking about it when it was announced. So I lost my actual mind. New songs.
SeanYeah, I was shocked for a new for a new song, and the song is great.
BinxThe song is great. Also waited 17 years. Chris, so this is a band that Ryan Gosling started with his friend Zach Shields 17 years ago. They only have one album, and it's with a children's choir. And the whole aesthetic of the album is Halloween, I guess. Like really spooky. Yeah. They talk about monsters and vampires and ghouls, like the Theremon, and just like all kinds of like very haunting sounds. It's perfection. Also, Ryan Gossing's like a good singer, you know. I I think so. And so they announced new music, or just they dropped the song on the 27th of October. And so I impulsively, in my excitement, posted a video on my Instagram announcing this because I don't know, I was just so excited. And Eva Mendez followed me on Instagram as a result. When I tell you that I basically fell to the ground screaming on the phone with my mother, because at the time she only like commented on the post. That already was enough to send me through the roof. When she hit me with the follow, I basically lost my mind crying on the phone with my mother. So now I have to basically overthink every single thing that I post on my Instagram because Eva Mendes is watching me. She isn't, by the way. She's just followed me, which is very sweet and uh so unnecessary. But what if she does? Also, Eva Mendes, hire me, you know? It's kind of where I'm at. Please. Fellow Cuban, come on, help me out. Yeah. So that was basically the highlight of my October.
SeanThat's awesome, though. That's really cool.
KrisYou know, is and it's less about, you know, is Eva gonna watch you and judge you. It's are you gonna keep the follow?
BinxI will do whatever it takes. Whatever it takes to keep that follow. Listen, I will talk about Dead Man's Bones every single day if it's if that's what I need to do. I don't know. So far, she still follows. We're gonna hold our breath. If I did also rewash Night at the Roxberry, not because it's like one of my favorite movies, but because she's in it for like literally five seconds. That's where I first remember her. And I thought to like post something, but I was like, let me not be so extra.
SeanThat is uh that is actually really cool though. That is awesome.
BinxWe need to get her in in something horror-related. Should we like interview her? What's her favorite horror movie? You know what I mean? Well, I mean, she's probably been in horror, but I of course, but like all the movies that I can think of off the top of my head are like like Hitch and Night at the Roxberry, and I guess Bad Lieutenant can be kind of horror because Nick Cage is absolutely terrifying there.
KrisYou know when she's been in horror? Urban Legends Final Cut takes place in a film school.
BinxI haven't seen that movie. That's the one with Jared Leto, isn't it? This is the sequel to that.
SeanOh, yeah, that's true. Okay.
BinxOh, wow.
SeanBut she's also in Children of the Corn.
BinxOkay, we need to get her on the pod. Okay, don't worry, guys. I'll do whatever I can.
SeanHer film debut, yeah. So many actors start in horror. It's it's wild.
KrisThat's why we had a whole day dedicated to that that Chell made in our 31 Days of Horror Calendar.
SeanYeah, film, feature film debut, Children of the Corn, Fields of Terror.
BinxWow, that's fascinating. Okay, Eva Mendez.
SeanThere you go.
BinxLet's go for the culture. I love it. I love it.
SeanYeah, I mean, outside of the that drop in music, I pretty much just read like just rinse and repeated my whole playlist. So, you know, it was like typo negative to fucking Bobby Boris, you know, and the Monster Mash. Yeah. And all the little like one-offs in between. You know, I've got a I've got a whole thing of just horror songs that I listen to all October long. It's probably like a hundred songs deep. I play it on shuffle throughout the whole fucking season. I think I I had shared it with the with the uh in Discord, you know, with everyone uh last year. Um, but there's so many good stuff. Necromantics is in there. There's some like deep cuts like Marlon Williams. There's some good stuff in there.
BinxSometimes when you're in the like in the moment, at least this happens to me, it's hard for me to think of like what's the perfect vibe, I guess, in terms of music. Like I wish I was like as good as you in terms of Chris as well. You the both of you are really good at like music and playlist curation and all of that. Like, I can't why are you looking at me with that face, Chris? You create playlists all the time. Not all the time, maybe not as much as before, but be clear.
KrisIt's like my special interest, but it's like very niche. I don't know shit about shit. I was like, oh, this is I can hear this and it sounds okay. Sean is a music person. I can name a single band in any of these playlists that I have. They're just good vibes together.
BinxHey, it's still a skill. Don't downplay yourself. All I'm saying is I want for next October to have like the perfect little playlist. I want the perfect little activities, you know? It's gonna be different, but you know, for now we're in November. So I guess I'm gonna have to figure out a November vibe. I don't know.
SeanYou just start planning for next year.
KrisOkay, listen, yeah, A, you start planning for next year, B, this is prime nightmare before Christmas territory. Everybody debates is that a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie? And I'm like, no, motherfucker, it's a November 1st through December 26th movie. So real.
SeanIt totally works.
KrisThere is a great amount of stuff that's coming out this November, and a couple things that I'm really, really excited for. One of which I just learned, there is a horror movie, a version of a Christmas story. Yes, called Ebenezer. Yes, I feel like I've been waiting my whole life for this with Johnny Depp.
BinxYes. Hold on. Because I saw that trailer recently, I was so confused. I didn't see the Ty West part. So when I saw in our notes that you wrote Ebenezer, I looked it up and I was like, wait, but that didn't I guess what I wasn't pay fully paying attention. I was very entranced in my popcorn. It was so delicious, I was guzzling it. But I just assumed it was a Christmas story, and I didn't really associate or think that it was gonna be a horror version of it, didn't know the Ty West part until I saw that you wrote this down and I Googled it. I guess I'm gonna be sad.
KrisI petition that we all watch it on November 13th and we make that our Christmas episode this year. Love that. Putting it in the calendar.
SeanI think that would be dope. Yeah, for sure.
BinxI I I genuinely did not know. So yeah, sign me up. That was really cool to discover moments before we started recording. No idea. That's what I get for not paying attention. Um, but I think we both and I don't know, Sean, maybe you as well. Victorian Psycho is something that I have been looking forward to. It was supposed to come out earlier this year. We've been waiting patiently. The return of Micah Monroe. I'm prepared.
KrisI am extremely, extremely excited for this. Largely because it also has that Lizzie Borden energy to it.
SeanIt does look like it's gonna be pretty good. I am excited for that one for sure. I will say though, I am actually excited that so Dead of Night. I don't know if you're familiar with this, but it's getting an 80th anniversary release, theatrical release. It's a 1946 film, it's an anthology movie. I don't know if I'm crazy here, but I think some people would consider it a cornerstone in horror film.
KrisWhat? You know what's really funny is that coincidentally there's also a movie called Dead of Night that's coming out starring Chris Jericho this year.
SeanYeah, yeah, I saw that. I saw that.
KrisHey, I have Dead of Night, the 2026 slasher to talk about. And Sean's like, yeah, this great re-release of a movie from the 40s.
SeanYeah, it's cool, it's cool. But yeah, that I saw the Chris Jericho thing, that might be fun. We also have Werewolf coming out, which is gonna be awesome.
BinxI'm gonna be insufferable. What a blessing. And Ethel Kane is gonna be doing the music.
SeanOoh, so good, so good.
KrisObviously, another big one here. Thanks.
BinxSunrise on the reaping? Yep, of course, of course. Because guess what, folks? That's a fucking horror movie. It's a catastrophic one. Don't get me started.
KrisMy whole Instagram algorithm right now is just people making a bunch of fan edits for Sunrise on the Reaping, and someone called it Sunrise on the Weeping, and I'm like, oh my god, it's so true. I'm gonna be falling in this theater. I'm ready and I'm also not ready.
BinxOh, I'm gonna need to make sure I don't break my eyes all over again from crying too much. I'm going to need to tell my future employer, you know, God willing that I have one by the time this happens, that I'm going to need to take the following day off. Because what if I'm not well and I need 24 hours to recover? This is a very important day. Between this and I mean, could be also whore, depends who you talk to. Between this and Dune part three, the next two months are critical. With werewolf, get out of here. I mean, I'm scared for myself. How am I gonna learn? Oh, I thought I thought you were gonna say you're gonna take off from GTA 6 to No, don't get me started about GTA 6 because the the truth of the matter is is that I'm going I'm going to need to buy another PS5 just for GTA 6. I can't own anything else. GTA 6 is gonna take up every nook and cranny of my PS5. It's quite ridiculous. Also, mind you, I need to basically stay up till midnight tomorrow, um, November 4th, to get awkward enough time for the Switch 2. A girl is booked and busy when it comes to video games. I don't know who the fuck I think I am, but unemployed. But aside from that, I I have some weird priorities. Totally okay.
SeanListen, you gotta pass the time with a good game.
KrisTo be clear, you're all one of the most fiscally responsible people that I've ever met, and you just allow yourself to have these little joyous moments. That's okay. Thank you. What no one else is hearing are all the ways that you're like very responsible. So it all balances out. Thank you for that.
BinxThat's that is true. I don't give myself enough credit for that part, but you're right. You're right.
SeanListen, I'm also excited. I I guess this is technically another 2027 upcoming, but I'm also excited to see what Mike Flanagan does with the Exorcist.
BinxOh, could I forget? Oh my god, guys.
SeanWe have a stacked lineup coming. Wait, a lot of good stuff.
BinxNow you're gonna throw me on a tangent, which I mean, I know that we're we're gonna need to dedicate a whole thing to it because 2027 is crazy. Blumhouse Atomic, apparently, new name as of today, they are popping the fuck off next year. We need to buckle in. And it's our 10-year anniversary. Get out of here. Come on, what a time.
KrisNext year is gonna be fucking insane for our show. That's for damn sure. I'm excited for the Exorcist only because of Mike Flanagan. I don't know that I really care about The Exorcist as like a franchise, though.
SeanWell, because it hasn't been treated very well. I feel like there's not been a lot of really great installments in the Exorcist franchise, but it's Mike Flanagan. You have to hope, at least just riding off of that, that we're gonna get something really good here.
BinxListen, one of the films that I watched during October was Exorcist 3, and I can't even begin to tell you that that is one of the greatest movies I've seen in a good fucking while. It's so my shit. I I was floored by it actually. So when I saw the trailer for this, it was giving that kind of energy. I was so stoked, and we know I'm a mega flanagan fan. I just actually saw Clayface as well. That was really cool. Uh he was he wrote the script, but that was like, you know, very limited in terms of involvement, but I still, you know, felt the spirit a little bit. But yeah, you can never have enough flanagan. And I am down for as much Mike Flanagan work that we can get, please. Hoping good things for 2027 outside of just that film.
